National Credit Union Awards for Excellence

Unity Trust Bank believes that Credit unions play a very important role in the communities they serve, but that it is a role that goes largely unrecognised and unrewarded. Unity Trust Bank has decided to redress this situation by establishing an annual awards event to honour these unsung heroes who make an outstanding contribution to credit unions and to society at large. These awards, to be known as the National Credit Union Awards for Excellence have been devised by Unity Trust Bank and modelled on similar schemes in the United States and Canada. They are designed to champion and pay tribute to the extraordinary work of the countless individuals who give their time and expertise to the credit union movement.

The awards are open to the whole of the credit union movement in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There will be six awards, recognising excellence in the areas of:

• marketing

• community mobilisation

• credit union education

• fundraising

• active partnerships

• an award for a single benefactor
